Lips treatment

Are you bothered by thin lips, a downturned mouth, wrinkles, or asymmetry?

These are some of the most common concerns addressed by our individualized approach here at Aesthetic Excellence MD. Luckily Dr. Briskin and Dr. Leybel have years of experience addressing these concerns.

The treatment

To address fuller lips, disproportion, asymmetry, and definition we employ hyaluronic acid fillers from a variety of manufacturers. To address wrinkles surrounding the lips we often times use Botox. Botox works by weakening or decreasing the movement of certain muscles.

When it comes to lip treatments, we employ an approach grounded in science, mathematics, experience and artistic skill. All injectors have access to the same products, but what differentiates us is how well we use them!

In the classic understanding of beauty, the ratio of upper lip to lower lip size is ideally ⅓ to ⅔. This is considered to be an aesthetically pleasing proportion. The width of the mouth should be equal to the distance between the limbus of the eyes, as shown above. While the aforementioned proportions are starting points grounded in science there are adjustments based on ethnicity, race, and the patient’s desires.

We understand that after all beauty is in the eye of the beholder and despite the classic understanding of beauty and proportion when it comes to the anatomy of the face, we strive to achieve our client’s desired results.

At Aesthetic Excellence MD, we use Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero, and Botox to achieve your desired results. Our physicians select the proper products after an individualized consultation to ensure natural enhancement.

Each product produces different results. For instance, your provider might choose a thicker filler (more viscous) from the Juvederm line of products to increase the fullness of the lips, whereas, a thinner filler like Belotero is better suited for fine wrinkles on the lips. Botox may be used when addressing fine lines around the lips, to decrease pursing, and to help improve the appearance of a downturned mouth. Turn that frown upside down!

Prior to the procedure, the area is first treated with a topical numbing cream to decrease sensation and improve patient comfort. Then the proper fillers or Botox are administered as an injectable with the use of a fine needle in an aseptic environment.

Lip treatments generally show their full effects within a week or two of the procedure, after normal swelling recedes. You can expect filler treatments to last anywhere between one to two years; however, any Botox treatments will last approximately three months to keep you looking young and vibrant.
